Bud Light Swear Jar

Bud Light always offers hysterical commercials come Super Bowl time. Bud Light makes the viewer of the “Swear Jar” commercial believe that Bud Light is the best way to build up office unity. Let’s face it, a happy work environment is a good work environment, but there is a limit on how much fun there should be in the office. For example, bringing in donuts for a co-workers birthday is a nice morale booster, while on the other hand, intentionally cursing during office meetings in order to raise funds to purchase Bud Light for the office is not professional behavior. Yes, this is a make-believe situation, but one cannot help but think how cool it will be to be able to go into work and have a nice, cold Bud Light, with your boss giving a toast to you and your co-workers, commending you on your efforts.
Bud Light lets the viewer know it is a Bud Light commercial in the opening scene of the commercial, having the secretary explain the swear jar to an employee “we’ll use it [the money from the swear jar] to buy something for the office, like Bud Light”. You do not see an actual Bud Light until the last scene when everyone in the office has a Bud Light in their hands. Typically, I am anti-commercials that last longer than 30 seconds and do not integrate either the physical product or logo early in the commercial. However, I feel Bud Light hit a home run with this one-minute long commercial, because it is extremely funny (seriously, who doesn’t like to hear people curse for no reason?), effective, and captivates their target audience (working people who want work to be more fun). While this type of behavior will get you fired in the “real world”, the Bud Light commercial allows one to ponder how great it would be to work for an office like the one depicted in the commercial.

  1. How many times can you use "Bud Light" in a paragraph? too many times. Pronouns are your friends
