Blog 7 of 12: Crayon Project Part 1

Consider the material nature of the crayon response you are reviewing -- this is not your own writing!  Is the writer influenced by the writing implement s/he uses?  Is the writer more expressive or less expressive as a result of the physical constraints of the crayoned page?

Is this writing any good?  How do you know that it is good (or not)?



No, the author’s writing is not influenced by the writing implement she uses.  The writer chose to use pink crayon on a landscape sheet of white computer paper.  Her writing is as expressive as usual, regardless of her writing instrument.  It is a well-written piece.  It is good because it is argument driven and is backed up with examples (i.e. “especially someone like Obama”).  She believes being flexible in speech is beneficial because you can address a broader audience.
