Yes it can lead to better talking and wording, which can lead to the speaker being more powerful and persuasive.  Being able to speak in many ways to many different people is very beneficial, especially to someone like Obama.  Certain dialect can affect people in different ways, so this ability is a good one.  Flexibility of voice helps other aspects of life. It erases boundaries and limitations people may have with language and speaking.
